Four 5th grade students at Wade King Elementary School in Bellingham Washington planned and coordinated a 3K Fun Run to raise awareness for Lyme disease. At Wade King Elementary, the fifth graders complete a year end culminating Exhibition project to showcase their learning. As part of their project the students are required to take action to inspire change related to their issue. Many students choose to pass out stickers, bracelets or pamphlets to raise awareness. This group of students choose to engage Olympic Athlete and LymeLight Spokesperson Angeli VanLannen and organize a 3K Run. They also worked with community businesses to donate raffle prizes, and sold raffle tickets to raise funds for LymeLight. The motto of the Wade King school is “Developing students who will change the world.” These four students are well on their way!
