I have been painting and drawing since childhood, and seek to interpret through these media the beauty and magic in the world around us. I mostly paint directly from life in a representational style. My focus is on landscape/cityscape, still life and figure.
I’ve been trained at The Art Students League in New York City and at City College in San Francisco, as well as privately along the way. In recent years I’ve studied “plein air” landscape painting with some of the top regional painters.
I live in San Francisco and have a studio at Hunters Point Shipyard. Currently I give workshops in both plein air landscape and studio still life painting. I show my work at the SFMOMA Artists Gallery and participate in various painting shows throughout the area. I also have several Open Studios shows at the Shipyard throughout the year. Private appointments at my studio are welcome.
My paintings and information about shows and workshops can be seen on my website, brucekatzstudio.com. I can also be followed on Facebook at facebook.com/brucekatzstudio and on Instagram at instagram.com/bruce_katz
