Crampton creates still life paintings, which can include a car, an animal, or any number of other objects. The animals are witnesses to modern life. The addition of toys and modern detritus raises questions about our future, our collections of stuff, and our feelings about animals.
Carolyn Crampton, grew up near New York City, but spent a childhood summer in Europe, visiting countless museums. The feeling of being at home with the paintings forged her desire to be an artist.
After receiving her BFA from the University of Colorado, Crampton moved to San Francisco. Her works have been shown in the bay area and are included in many private collections. She has been a fixture at the San Francisco Hunters Point Shipyard community for many years.
