In the spirit of the great portraiture tradition, but deviating from its usual approach, I create oil paintings using objects rather then faces, to explore the human experience. In my newest series, "Portraits of Gardens," I gather, arrange and photographs elements from a moment in time of a unique garden. Later in my studio, I create a “portrait” of the garden that conveys a moment in time and space, and also reflects the essence of the gardener, its caretakers, and those who most enjoy it. I also create "portraits" of people using their most cherished belongings to illuminate their characters and life stories.
