As a teenager Rebecca enjoyed success as a sculptor of highly collectible and nationally distributed clay miniatures. She then pursued education in the technical arts, carving out a noteworthy career as a graphic designer, art director, and vector art illustrator. Missing the hands-on tactile experience, she eventually returned to the fine arts, choosing to explore the possibilities of acrylic paint. Since 2008, Rebecca's paintings have been featured in both large and intimate group shows around California, with her first solo show in 2013. In her current work she strives to capture multiple emotions being experienced simultaneously, often those of peaceful tranquility and exuberant joy. The color blue, recognized universally as the color of the sky and sea, is the most popular color in the world. In “Indigo is the New Black” (2018 donation) the stacked indigo forms are translucent to allow the disruption of competing colors while remaining serene, stable, and confident. Just as black is always in style, blue can calm in conflicting times.
