Meg is back at it again raising funds for a cause near and dear to her heart! Returning from her Meg's 2023 Half Marathon, this is “Take 2” and she is adding even more Marathon Miles benefiting those battling Lyme disease.
Meg wrestled with the idea of running a full marathon for this fundraiser, but decided to break the effort into two (more manageable!) half-marathons. Meg’s interest in fundraising for this cause was born out of her family’s lived experience with chronic Lyme, babesia, and mold toxicity. Meg, her husband Pete, and her son Oliver received treatment over a five year period. The road to restored health was grueling, expensive, and complicated by being stuck in a home toxic for mold during the pandemic.
While anguish and “just getting through” were the bookends for Meg’s days for many years, what reverberates now, is a deep empathy for other sufferers. People who are managing any chronic illness, including those that are tickborne, need financial support now more than ever!
Still today, despite the endemic status of Lyme, most health insurance companies don’t cover the cost of the most accurate diagnostic tests. Equally frustrating: most won’t cover the staggering expense of the most effective treatments. As it stands, to choose a path of healing means suffering great financial hardship.
So, please join Meg in raising $5,000 to help ease the financial burden associated with overcoming Lyme and other tickborne illnesses! She will be running the Head to the Beach Half Marathon on August 8, 2026 in Islesboro, ME, and the Maine Half-Marathon on Sunday October 4th, 2026 in Portland, ME. 26.2 miles of fundraising for a worthy cause!
All donations made on Meg’s behalf will directly fund LymeLight Foundation’s treatment grant program for children and young adults battling Lyme disease.
